Well-known in certain circles as an energy worker and healer, Goldie Amira dedicates her practice to making a tangible difference in other’s lives. With over 40 years of teaching and healing under her belt, one of Goldie’s favorite techniques is Acutonics.
She defines Acutonics as an “energy-based, non-invasive treatment, similar to acupuncture that connects you with your body’s meridians and chakra energy systems.”
In addition to general relaxation and healing through sound and vibrations, Acutonics is also used to assist with depression symptoms, and aid in pain management, among other specific issues.
The Treatment
Lying on a comfortable massage table, I closed my eyes and was immediately surrounded by the organic tones of the Sun, Earth, Moon, Zodiac, and of course, Om. To create the tones, Amira uses precision- calibrated tuning forks by gently striking the tuning forks against an Acutonics Acuvator – a specially designed device, strapped to her thigh.
Acutonic tones are called “The Music of Spheres,” signifying the mystical and eternal kinship between music and the human soul, which represents the underlying ideology of Acutonics.
The tones from the forks washed over my body, surrounding and engulfing my senses, while quieting the inner chaos brought on the week’s daily grind.
Some may scoff at the concept of energy work, but I am a true believer. Once Goldie began the process, the room’s atmosphere seemed to inexplicably come alive.
I felt like I was being gently embraced by warm, white light.
During an Acutonic session, the forks are applied following the unique meridians of your own physique, beginning with the ears, then feet for grounding. Arms, legs, the spine and top of the head follow.
As the forks were placed firmly and strategically against my body, the vibrations felt surprisingly powerful, rippling throughout my body’s soft tissue with seemingly distinct purpose. Each strike of the forks resonated deep within the designated area, causing my muscles to reverberate.
I experienced a weightless, floating sensation.
Happily, the weight of stress, fatigue and anxiety that accompanied me to my session did not follow me out.
Later, Goldie explained that working with energy provides a catalyst through which all else can flow.
“These vibrations are thought to often travel deeper than acupuncture or acupressure, because sound is a stronger, more penetrating force than pressure alone,” she says.
My take? My time with Goldie Amira left me feeling rejuvenated, and surprisingly relieved many of the aches and pains that had been bothering me for months.
